“IT’S A GREAT BIG WORLD”

LESSON 2 (TUESDAY)God Can Make You New

Memory Verse: II Corinthians. 5:17-”Therefore if any man BE in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

INTRODUCTION: God has made a certain little worm which can make an amazing transformation. This worm begins to “spin” silk-like threads much like a spider’s web, all around himself until he is completely covered and protected. Inside this cocoon, he sleeps for a period of time. Then - he makes his way out of his self-built home and when he comes out - HE HAS WINGS! These are not just any wings, they are the most beautiful, colorful wings ever seen and NO OTHER worm has wings that look like his. He has become a BUTTERFLY! An even bigger miracle is the change that God can make in a person when we go from our old nature to a new nature when we get saved. Here are some things that God gives us in our new nature as a Christian, replacing the old things in the life we once had before salvation.

ICHANGED FROM DEATH TO LIFE

(John 5:24-”. . .but is passed from death unto life.”)

You were headed for that terrible place called Hell in your old nature. But then, when you asked Jesus to come into your heart and save you, you were given a NEW nature and eternal life. Instead of an eternal death in Hell, you now have LIFE eternal.

IICHANGED FROM HELL TO HEAVEN

When you got saved, you were saved from Hell and burning forever in darkness. Now you will live forever in that beautiful place called Heaven where Jesus lives and there are streets of gold and nothing bad ever happens.

III.CHANGED FROM SAD TO HAPPY

(I Peter 1:8-”. . .joy unspeakable and full of glory.”)

People who do not know Jesus as their Saviour are sad and unhappy inside. They don’t have that JOY inside that can only come from knowing Jesus as Saviour. Though things may happen around you that make you sad, you can always have that eternal joy on the inside that helps you through sad times.

IV.CHANGED FROM SELFISH TO GENEROUS

(II Corinthians 9:7-”. . .God loveth a cheerful giver.”)

Without Jesus, people are out to get whatever they can to make their own life better. They are only concerned about themselves. Once we are saved, we have the love of Jesus in us and He makes us want to live for Him instead of for ourselves. When we live for Jesus we are concerned for others, too. The way to have REAL joy is: J esus first

VCHANGED FROM FEAR TO PEACE

(Psalm 56:11-”. . .I will not be afraid. . .”)

Being saved means you no longer have to fear death or the dark, because you have a heavenly Father guiding and protecting you and guardian angels watching over you. You now have the peace that passes all understanding of men - you have God’s peace that cannot be taken away.

Changes take place every single day, but the best one and the lasting one, is the change that Jesus makes in us when we get saved. If you haven’t asked Jesus into your heart,
